Don’t you just S. E. E. Meaning, don’t you “just” Sleep, Eat, Excrete!!!! Try and accomplish something every day. I want you to try something: Every morning, after taking care of my immediate bathroom needs, then as you certainly must do, you wash your hands. Soap up again and wash your eye glasses if you wear them. Then rinse and soap up again and wash the handle(s) of the spigot, then rinse.

I then drink at least 12 oz. of water since we are all slightly dehydrated at this time. If you take morning meds, this is a good time to do this. I then dampen my face with water and apply either moisturizer or sunscreen depending on whether I am then going to apply makeup. In my house, my husband wants the bed made up as soon as possible, and I have this down pat. It takes me only 30 seconds to make up a bed. But my lesson here is that in minutes, I have started my day off by accomplishing several things. I had a friend many years ago that was a multi- task expert. She had three kids and had trained them to help but mostly she had it down pat how to start breakfast and while the bacon or ham cooked, she ran around making sure beds were made and bedrooms were straightened up. The kids all knew the routine from when they were toddlers. She then got the kids fed and off to school. She always made sure their backpacks were ready the night before. After the kids were gone, she spent 30 minutes doing housework such as putting a load of clothes in the washer, putting dishes in the dishwasher and running a mop over a floor (different rooms each day). She then hit the tennis court, or golf course, or gym. She was absolutely amazing. Her husband could never complain about the house or what she did in her free time since everything was always taken care of. She did have a housekeeper once a month that did some heavier cleaning. She also had a rule that if you bought something new, something of like size had to go out.

Since I tend to be the type that holds on to things, this would never work for me. But if her husband bought a new shirt, for instance, an old one had to be discarded. Her whole house was always spotless. I was always speechless! She had another rule that I actually did follow and that was that whatever food she prepared she expected her family to eat. No excuses. If they did not like what she had prepared, she would tell them that that was fine. They could either eat that or go hungry. There were no junk foods to be found in her home. Her kids (and mine) knew that they could go to bed hungry and without dessert or eat what was served. Frankly, I actually was raised that way, too, so it was no stretch for me to raise my kids that way. I have been appalled at some stories I have heard of kids that seemed to live off of junk food. Parents would say that that was all they would eat. My answer to that was that if the healthy food was all they had in house to eat, they would absolutely eat it.

So, back to my original don’t just Sleep, Eat, Excrete. If you have a job, try to do the very best you can do each day to try to accomplish something. If you do not have an outside job, still try to accomplish something. To start with, try to be a better person, better spouse, better parent, better citizen. Look in the mirror and say, I love and respect you first and others next.

Remember, we are all in this together on this precious planet and we must help each other.
