What if:  What if you are completely dedicated to your health and are on numerous diets and exercise programs but you have noticed a (?) mass of some sort in your right lower abdomen along with some lower abdominal pain. Your spouse has been sick and you just kinda ignore your recent problem as a case of diverticulitis which you have had in the past. Your spouse actually ends up in the hospital but then gets enough treatment that he gets better and you have time to go to your family doctor. She is concerned and orders a bunch of test including a CT scan of your abdomen. You are able to pull up the results of your CT scan and you completely freak out at what you are seeing, Cancer in the mass with metastasis all through your abdomen including your lungs.

Well, as you may have already guessed, this is me.  I have cancer.  Stage 4 metastatic ovarian cancer with a rather dim life expectancy except with hope for some years of remission with  lots of Chemotherapy and then with surgery followed by more Chemotherapy plus some follow up by some more therapy which I don’t have the name for at this time. I plan to take you through my stages of care on this blog in the hopes of helping even just one person out there who is putting off seeing a doctor when you have a suspicious health issue. Or someone going through what I am going through with a cancer diagnosis.

So, I would love to hear from you.

Thanks,

Dr. Dixie
